Mothers Day 2011

This picture was taken at Mrs. Connie's annual Mothers Day picnic.  She's so sweet to celebrate us Moms each year.

I just love this picture.  How lucky am I to have such great kiddos!

Dam Run X (My 1st 5k!)

On May 7, I ran in my very 1st 5K race.  I've been running for a while now, but had never actually done a race.  Stephanie convinced us all to sign up and even talked us into buying matching Bondi Bands for our heads.  (-:

Unfortunately, Stephanie cut her foot open the week of the race so she couldn't run with us.  However, it was VERY nice to have our own personal photographer at the race!  Thanks Steph!

I had a great time running with my girls!

Looking fierce after the race... haha

Just had to get a picture with my fellow t-ball moms!  Go Rangers!

Easter Sunday (actually Saturday night!)

Every year Colonial offers a Saturday night Easter service for its members so that they can accommodate all of the guests on campus on Easter Sunday.  We enjoy attending this service because we all go together and then over to Mom's for dinner and an egg hunt.  Hayden was pretty egg-hunted out (b/c we'd done three other hunts prior to Easter), so he decided to hide the eggs for the girls who live next door and let them hunt.  I was pretty proud of him b/c he came up with the idea on his own.  We're always talking about how it's nice to do things for other people so it makes me happy to see that he's actually listening!  haha  The girls told us (they're 10-12 years old) that they hadn't gotten to do a hunt this year so they were excited as well!  Here's a few pictures I took at Mom's of the kiddos in their Easter wear.
This is the only picture I got of Katelyn smiling... she wasn't feeling the family picture this year.  (-:

Jones' Annual Easter Egg Hunt

My friend Stephanie hosts an egg hunt each year for all the kiddos in the field behind her house and it's always so much fun!  Parker was napping during the festivities, so David stayed home with her and Hayden and I were off!  Hayden got lots of eggs and enjoyed the cupcakes that Stephanie had made for everyone.
Thanks Jones' Family for hosting every year!

Easter with the cousins

We hosted Easter for my mom's side of the family this year.  We were so excited b/c all 7 great-grandkids were able to come!  We don't get together that often so it was so nice to visit and let the kids play.  They had a blast playing in the backyard, and then when the storm came, we moved the egg hunt indoors.  Of course, after the storm passed, the kids were ready to get back outside.  They had a great time splashing in the puddles and getting muddy.
Hayden and Uncle Toby always take such good pictures!

My first furniture project

A few weeks ago, I went down to Corinth to stay with Camie for the weekend.  Each year in April, we go to the neighborhood garage sales in a neighborhood not too far from her house.  There's a ton of houses that participate and we always find good stuff!  Plus, it's alot of fun to garage sale with the girls (minus kids... haha)!

Here is my favorite find from this year.  Camie is always redoing furniture and I told her that I want to give it a try, but I'm scared I'll jack it up.  She said, "you need to find a cheap piece to experiment with!"
So, find I did... this little beauty... for only $10!!!

There was a Broyhill tag in the inside of the drawer, so I knew it was solid wood.  Makes it an even better deal!

The previous owner was not very nice to this sweet little table.  Check out those scratches!
And AFTER!

I love how it turned out.  I sanded every surface down and then spray painted it with 2 cans of  Valspar Satin black spray paint from Lowes.  I then added a cute little knob that I found at Hobby Lobby.  I think I might do one more coat on it b/c I can see a few areas that aren't as smooth as I would like it.  I might also go back and put a clear coat on it.  But, I wanted to show it off first!  When we moved into our new house, I knew this wall needed something and I love the way it looks now.

Next project.... my dining room table and china hutch.  They were hand me downs from David's parents and are a nice oak color.  I really want to do them black like these, but have to get the courage up first.  haha  I'll definitely post pictures of the before and after when I do it!
